Robyn received a 2008 Whatsonstage Theatregoers' Choice Award nomination for Best Takeover in a Role, for her portrayal of Christine in The Phantom of the Opera. Her long association with the show began at the age of 19 when she understudied and played the role on numerous occasions. She later took over as Alternate Christine and in 2007 she finally returned to the show to take over the role in her own right.
Other theatre includes: Miss Dorothy and understudy for the title role, opposite Lesley Joseph, in Thoroughly Modern Millie (first national tour) and the lead role of Isabel/Helen opposite Shane Richie in Scrooge (Bill Kenwright tour). More recently, she appeared in the original cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s revival of Evita directed by Michael Grandage (Adelphi, also Children in Need and original cast recording).
Robyn trained at the Sandy Gray School of Dancing and the London Studio Centre on full scholarship. Upon completion of her diploma in theatre dance, she graduated with distinction in musical theatre and received the Lia Williams Award. Whilst training, she played The Baker's Wife in Into the Woods, Maggie in A Chorus Line and Wife in The War Plays.
Robyn is delighted to be continuing in Phantom, while at the same time appearing in concert on tour for Chris Jordan Productions. She has also recorded her debut album, Make Believe, at Abbey Road Studios, released by Jay Records in September 2008 (available on iTunes, in stores or at www.colekitchenn.com/robynnorth).
