The Phantom of the Opera - James BarronJames trained at the Drama Centre, London. His West End credits include Grantaire and Javert in Les Misérables (Palace), Gus the Theatre Cat and Bustopher Jones in Cats (New London), the original cast of Mamma Mia! (Prince Edward), South Pacific (National Theatre), Leonardo (Strand) and My Fair Lady (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane).

Other theatre includes the RSC production of Kiss Me, Kate, The Pirates of Penzance, South Pacific and Ivor Novello’s Kings Rhapsody, Haunted (Theatre Royal, Windsor), as Richard the Lionheart in The Lion in Winter with Brian Blessed (Haymarket, Basingstoke), The London Merchant (Finborough Arms Theatre), Widower’s House (Theatre Museum, Covent Garden) and The Bed Before Yesterday (The Mill, Sonning).

In concert James has appeared in Jack in Review – a tribute to Jack Tinker (London Palladium), the closing ceremony of Euro ’96 (Wembley Stadium), as Javert in Les Misérables with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (Bournemouth International Centre), at Party in the Park with Mamma Mia!, the Les Misérables Tenth Anniversary Concert (Royal Albert Hall), and with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the Scandinavian stadium tour of Les Misérables.

On television, James has been seen in five consecutive series of Judge John Deed with Martin Shaw, in Jonathan Creek, Holby City, Heartbeat, Where the Heart Is, Shelley, Home to Roost, Three Up Two Down, Writing and Pictures, West Country Tales, She’s Gone with Ray Winstone, The Des O’Connor Show, The Royal Variety Performance 1999, Night Fever, and in the last ever episode of Allo! Allo!

On film James appeared in The Endless Game with Albert Finney, Purgation (National Film School), and as Bustopher Jones in the movie version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats.

James has recently been working on a workshop production of Gone with the Wind directed by Sir Trevor Nunn, and is delighted to be returning to the West End in The Phantom of the Opera.
