Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny

The Phantom of the Opera - Simon BaileySimon is originally from Maidenhead in Berkshire and attended the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain in the class of 2000.

Most recently he created the role of Thompson in Once Upon a Time at the Adelphi, a high spot of Liverpool’s year as the European Capital of Culture (world premiere).

Other work includes: on tour as Blue in Naked Flame (1 and 2) and internationally as Ringo Starr and understudy Mercury in Rock Legends World Tour (Johannesburg, Durban, Bloemfontein and Cape Town, South Africa). In the West End he was most recently Enjolras in the 21st anniversary cast of Les Misérables (Queen's) and prior to this he appeared as understudy Galileo and Britney in We Will Rock You (Dominion), Pharaoh in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (New London) and in the ensemble and as understudy Romeo and Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet – The Musical (Piccadilly).

Simon created the role of Jamie Kane in the online murder/mystery game commissioned and produced by the BBC (www.jamiekane.co.uk).

Simon is also a member of Teatro, theatreland’s first supergroup. Teatro achieved their gold album within four weeks of the release of their eponymous debut album, and had the honour of performing for Her Majesty The Queen at the Royal Variety Performance in 2007, alongside Bon Jovi, Seal, James Blunt and Russell Brand. They have appeared on GMTV, This Morning and The Paul O'Grady Show. Teatro have travelled worldwide, including to New York and Los Angeles to appear on numerous television shows. In concert they have appeared in Egypt and Dubai, at the world's first seven-star Hotel, the Burj Al Arab. Teatro have just launched internationally, beginning in South Africa, and rose to Number 1 in the album chart within weeks of release.

Simon is thrilled to be joining this fantastic company and production of The Phantom of the Opera and wishes to thank his wonderful family and friends for their continued support.
